As a necessary condition for MIG eligibility, states are required to offer programs with personal assistance services (PAS). The extent of PAS coverage may determine whether a state is qualified to receive a "full" or "conditional" MIG. In addition, MIG funds have allowed some states to enhance or expand their PAS programs. Therefore, measuring the scope and use of personal assistance services (PAS) has been an early and ongoing priority for most MIG states.
Some states have undertaken projects to extend PAS availability or to study how the program is used or could be used more effectively. Research findings on PAS are presented here.
