As part of the Ticket to Work and Work Incentives Improvement Act of 1999, Congress authorized CMS to award funds to states to develop, implement, and evaluate projects that improve health coverage and employment for working adults with potentially disabling conditions such as diabetes and mental illness.  With the DMIE, states have the option of providing Medicaid-equivalent coverage or "wrap-around" coverage, which supplements existing insurance.  States may also propose employment-support and case management services that help to sustain employment.

Under contract to CMS, MPR is supporting the national evaluation of the DMIE's impact on employment and independence from public assistance programs.  This section will include report findings, issue briefs, and other research documents on this demonstration which ends in September 2009.
